Climbing Higher Award

Ryan with the Principal getting his award
His banner...
The whole lot of them!
Today Ryan was part of the Climbing Higher Award that each child gets in the school at some point in the year. He was pretty excited. I think it is pretty neat that each child is recognized for doing something well and they get to feel special for a moment. They make a pretty big deal out of it, announce their names over the morning announcements, they get a certificate and get to see themselves on TV.
I know I can be pretty corny about these sorts of things, but I absolutely love watching my kids grow up and experience things for themselves. It was so rewarding to watch Ryan feel proud of himself, to feel excited about being recognized and applauded! I loved watching his eyes light up and look around to find me and to see my reaction. He knew I was proud of him...it was written all over his face! It always amazes me (and surprises me) at how much my opinions are realyed into good or bad ideas in my kids hearts and minds. What I think not only matters to them, it is shaping how they will view the world and treat others. Now, that is responsibility!
I am so proud of you Ryan!

How is it having twins with something like this -- was Luke OK with it? By the way how is the new school?

The new school has been great so far. I can't complain! Luke did not seem to mind at all...in fact, Luke was the one who told me that Ryan was getting the award! With the boys being so different from the get-go, it has been pretty easy to keep the competition to a minimum...Hope you are all well!

Haha! Your kids are hilarious and ridiculously cute! "I just took a picture of Whitney's booty!" I can just hear him saying that all proud of himself! How's kindergarten going for the twins?

Way to go Ryan!!! So far, I've heard pretty good things about the new school. It's weird not seing Jaina in Mrs. Byrd's room. I keep thinking that I'll run into her. Sad stuff. Does she like her teacher this year?
