Chera...

I'd like to share with you a little bit about my best friend. Her name is Chera. I am lucky because she is also my sister, so she can't de-friend me for any issues that may come up. For the first 12 or so years of our lives together I really spent a lot of time trying to find a way to get rid of her. She was always bugging me and irritating me. She always wanted to sleep with me because she was scared. I was always asked to go to the bathroom with her because she was afraid. If I didn't...well that is another story. We were forced to share a bedroom which made "alone-time" difficult. We resorted to splitting the room in half by taking masking tape and running it across the floor, up the walls and across the ceiling. It worked but since I had the door on my side she would have to use passes to get in or out. None of that went very well...

Then things changed and she went to live with my Dad in Canada. I can't say that I missed her very much. At least not for the first few years. Once she went to University and I had a few more years under my belt we could not be pried off the phone. Our phone bills were out of control. We would talk at least 3 times a day and usually it was much more than that!

Now...15 years later my friendship with my sister is all of that and more. She continually amazes me with her strength and unwavering loyalty. I don't know anyone who stands by her ideals more or anyone who loves deeper. She is an incredible person who I love dearly. I watch her, making her way through life and trying to find what is really important, just wishing I could take some of the load off. I wish I could make things fall into place for her. I wish I could take her dreams and wrap them up with a big bow and lay them at her door step. But I can't. So, Chera I just hope you know how much I love you and how much I want you to be happy. You are an amazing person who is still undiscovered in many ways.

Call me.

So, I already like her because Chera is my second name! I will still answer to it! But now I like her even more. What a nice tribute. Does Chera know what an awesome sister she has? Hummmmmm
